Bassist – Live Performance + Studio Sessions

Classic song for a good cause…read and listen!

This past mid-September, I had the unbelievable opportunity to become involved, albeit indirectly, with the “Out of the Darkness Campaign” from the group Americans for Suicide Prevention.  Katy Scruggs, a former student of mine, and a ridiculously talented performer, was asked to record an a Capella version of the Bill Withers classic, “Lean On Me”, and so she contacted me about helping her get it produced in time.  Needless to say, I was thrilled to help out.  She and her mom came to the studio late one evening;  wearily, Katy and I worked out a quick arrangement, and in a few hours, we had the basic tracks recorded.  A week later, the night after I returned from a tour, I pieced together a mix to meet the video production deadline.  Once it is posted I will provide a link.  In the meantime, here is the song, sung by Katy Scruggs.
